About the excursion
The most beautiful old town in Slovakia lies on the border with the Czech Republic. We visit the historic churches, the town walls and the former Franciscan monastery, with the Slovak speciality “trdelník” (a pastry) and wine. Next to the remains of the town walls stands one of the oldest buildings in Slovakia, the Romanesque Rotunda of St George from the 12th century, which was given a Baroque dome in the 17th century. Also worth seeing are the late-Renaissance town hall and the Art Nouveau House of Culture from 1905. The town museum shows us how Slovaks used to live.
