About the excursion
The new motorway to Levoča makes it easy to visit this region in northern Slovakia, where the Zipser Germans lived in the Middle Ages. The view of the mighty Spiš Castle is breathtaking (tour of the interior). In the afternoon we discover the town walls of Levoča (UNESCO). The highlight is the Gothic Basilica of St James with the world’s tallest wooden altar by Master Paul. The old town hall, the Lutheran church and dozens of historic burghers’ houses and bastions are equally attractive. We return along the foot of the High Tatras.
